Lady Gaga is eager to share her joy after finding love with fiancé Michael Polansky.
In an interview published on Thursday, September 5, the “Die With a Smile” singer opened up about how her life has transformed since meeting Polansky.
The profile mentions that the couple got engaged in April following a rock climbing date, with Gaga confirming the engagement in July.
“The missing piece in my life was having real love,” Gaga, 38, told the magazine. She also shared that her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, who runs the Born This Way Foundation, met Polansky before Gaga did at a philanthropic event.
“My mom met him and said, ‘I think I just met your husband,’ and I was like, ‘I’m not ready to meet my husband!’” Gaga recalled. “I couldn’t have imagined that my mom … would find the most perfect person for me.”
Gaga and Polansky finally met in December 2019 at Sean Parker’s 40th birthday party in Los Angeles, which was hosted by the Napster cofounder.
“I was invited, and I remember thinking, ‘I wonder if Michael will be there,’ and my mom confirmed it. So I went to the party, kept asking about him, and eventually, he came over. We ended up talking for three hours,” Gaga shared. “It was an incredible conversation.”
Polansky shared his own thoughts, admitting, “I didn’t know much about her and wasn’t sure what to expect.
But I was immediately struck by her warmth and openness—she was so genuinely curious about my life growing up in Minnesota.”
The two quickly became a couple, eventually quarantining together at Gaga’s Malibu home during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
“We had this beautiful phase of normalcy … the kind that’s necessary for any relationship to grow — we took walks, made coffee, spent time with the dogs, and read books together,” Polansky reflected.
Gaga chimed in, “I’m incredibly thankful I wasn’t alone. I’ve never met anyone like Michael. He’s so intelligent and kind.”
The Joker: Folie à Deux star emphasized what she wants her fans to know most about her relationship: “I’m just so incredibly happy.”
Fans can also credit Polansky for motivating her to release a new pop album, her first since Chromatica in 2020.
“Like anyone who loves their partner, I encouraged her to follow the joy in her life,” Polansky explained.
“During the Chromatica tour [in 2022], I saw this incredible fire in her; I wanted to help her keep that passion alive and create music that truly made her happy.”
