Lee Young Ae is set to reprise her iconic role as Dae Jang Geum from the timeless K-drama “Jewel in the Palace” (also known as “Dae Jang Geum”).

Fantagio officially announced on January 30, confirming that production for the historical blockbuster drama “Uinyeo Dae Jang Geum” is set to commence filming in October. Lead actress Lee Young Ae, cast in June of the previous year, has finalized her participation with the drama scriptwriter signing the contract recently.

“Uinyeo Dae Jang Geum” will intricately explore Jang Geum’s journey, evolving into a unyeo (female physician) in continuity with MBC’s 2003 drama “Jewel in the Palace.” This year holds particular significance as 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the original drama, adding a profound layer of meaning to its initiation this year. The production is underway with the aim of broadcasting in the early months of the following year.
