During the 2024 showcase season, the announcement of LEGO Horizon Adventures at Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest stirred up intrigue, notably due to the absence of an Xbox version. Developed by Guerrilla Games, known for their work on PlayStation consoles, this venture into LEGO game territory will debut on PS5, Switch, and PC from day one, with Xbox notably missing from the lineup.

In a recent interview with Game File, James Windeler, the game’s narrative director, was asked about the absence of an Xbox version but offered a vague response.

Windeler emphasized the team’s focus on maximizing the capabilities of the PS5 hardware, hinting that this might be the reason for prioritizing platforms. Despite this reasoning, the decision to launch on the less powerful Nintendo Switch alongside PS5 raises eyebrows.

Windeler’s statement, “Right now, we’re just very much focused on pushing this hardware to its limits and making this game look as absolutely amazing as it can possibly be,” suggests a current exclusivity to PS5 without ruling out future developments for Xbox.

The narrative director’s use of “right now” leaves room for speculation about potential Xbox releases later on. Acknowledging the benefits of developing for fewer platforms, the team is actively investing resources into ensuring a version of the game for the Switch.
