The Detroit Lions have secured the return of one of their offensive weapons by reaching an agreement to re-sign wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones. The deal is reported to be a one-year contract worth up to $2 million.

Peoples-Jones joined the Lions last year after being traded from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a future sixth-round pick. During his tenure with the Lions in the 2023 season, he appeared in eight games, making five receptions for 58 yards. While he wasn’t targeted in Detroit’s postseason campaign, he contributed as a punt returner, tallying four returns for 32 yards.

Lions general manager Brad Holmes expressed confidence in Peoples-Jones, citing his past production and fit within the team. Despite limited opportunities last season, the Detroit native and former Michigan Wolverine brings with him NFL experience from his time with the Browns.

In Donovan’s 50 career games with Cleveland, Peoples-Jones amassed 117 receptions for 1,837 yards and eight touchdowns. Notably, his most productive season came in 2022, where he caught 61 passes for 839 yards and three touchdowns, ranking second in receiving yards behind Amari Cooper.

With the re-signing of Peoples-Jones, the Lions address continuity in their receiving corps, alongside ongoing negotiations with another free-agent wideout, Josh Reynolds, as they continue to shape their roster for the upcoming season.
