Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck publicly displayed affection at the This Is Me…Now: A Love Story premiere on Tuesday, February 13. They were photographed sharing a kiss on the red carpet, marking a moment of celebration for J.Lo’s upcoming musical film release, coinciding with her new album debut on February 16.
At the premiere, hosted at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Jennifer, 54, and Ben, 51, passionately kissed and indulged in affectionate gestures on the carpet. Their radiant smiles illuminated the romantic pre-Valentine’s Day occasion.
The renowned couple, affectionately dubbed “Bennifer,” made a stylish statement at the film premiere. Jennifer dazzled in a strapless black gown featuring a sheer maxi skirt adorned with intricate detailing of astrological signs, including Leo, symbolizing both herself and Ben. The “Let’s Get Loud” songstress complemented her ensemble with black arm sleeves, elegant heels, and diamond earrings.
Meanwhile, Ben exuded sophistication in a classic black suit paired with a crisp white button-up shirt and a sleek black tie.
The Prime Video musical film, directed by Dave Meyers and co-written by Jennifer and Ben, draws inspiration from their own love story.
Jennifer revealed that Ben convinced her to make the film, which features a glimpse at Ben’s love letters that he wrote to his wife.
“Ben kind of said this to me. I was like, ‘I don’t write, I don’t do this. He said, ‘You do. You write, you direct, you produce, you do all the things,” Jennifer said. “Start stepping into that. Start owning that a little bit. Start owning a little bit of who you are.’ ” Dave said in the interview that the film draws on Jennifer’s “pain that she went through when she broke up with Ben the first time.”
Jennifer and Ben’s journey began in the early 2000s, but they parted ways and pursued separate relationships before reuniting nearly two decades later. In a Variety interview promoting her new film and album, Jennifer candidly shared the reasons behind their well-known split.
“Our relationship crumbled under the weight of the pressure,” she reflected. “We lost ourselves, and we needed space to find ourselves again. I had to rediscover who I am, and so did he.”
Twenty years after their 2003 breakup, Jennifer and Ben rediscovered their connection and reignited their engagement by April 2022. Later that summer, the couple celebrated their love with a grand wedding in Georgia, solidifying their commitment to each other.
