Madonna concluded her Celebration Tour on Saturday with a remarkable free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, attracting an astounding 1.6 million fans.

This historic event broke the record for the largest audience ever for a stand-alone concert by any artist in history.

This concert marked Madonna’s return to Brazil since 2012 and was described by Live Nation as “a thank you to her fans for celebrating more than four decades of her music over the course of the epic global run of the tour.”

Copacabana Beach has a history of hosting massive, well-attended shows, notably including a performance in 2006 that drew an estimated 1.5 million fans, setting a record at the time.

Madonna’s concert on Saturday surpassed this record, with Live Nation reporting an attendance of 1.6 million people, transforming Copacabana Beach into “the world’s largest dancefloor.”

Madonna’s setlist for the Rio de Janeiro concert closely mirrored the hits-filled lineup she has been performing over the past eight months.

However, there was a delightful surprise in store for the audience: Brazilian singer Anitta, who had recently released her own album Funk Generation, made a special appearance during the “Vogue” segment of the concert, adding her unique flair to the performance.

Madonna’s previous visit to Brazil was in December 2012 during her The MDNA Tour, where she performed at various venues including Rio’s Parque dos Atletas, São Paulo’s Estádio do Morumbi, and Porto Alegre’s Estádio Olímpico Monumental.

The Celebration Tour commenced at London’s O2 Arena in October 2023, touring across Europe until December.

It then continued with the U.S. leg, starting in New York City on December 13 and concluding on April 26, with highlights including a five-show run at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes.

Throughout the tour, Madonna was joined by several major guests. In Los Angeles, both Kylie Minogue and Cardi B graced the stage with separate performances.
