The official website for Yostar’s free-to-play mahjong game Mahjong Soul (also known as Jong-Tama or Jan-Tama/majsoul) revealed the main promotional video for the Mahjong Soul Kan!! net anime on Saturday. The video announced that the anime will premiere on YouTube Premium on April 25, with new episodes airing every Thursday at 10:00 p.m.

The new trailer also gives us a peek of the theme song “Kan Kan Hime Hime,” performed by cast members Maaya Uchida, Chiwa Saito, Mariya Ise, and Ami Koshimizu in their respective roles.

Additionally, AT-X will broadcast the anime on television, and other streaming platforms will start streaming the anime on May 1.

Kazuomi Koga (known for Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible) is taking on the role of director and writer for the anime at studio Alke (previously, Scooter Films produced the anime with Alke’s assistance), with Yostar overseeing production. Ayumi Kurokawa, known for her work on The God of High School as a sub-character designer, is responsible for character design.

Creative Team and Returning Cast Announced for Mahjong Soul Pon☆ Sequel

Noriko Tsutsui returns as the art director and also oversees background art, while Yūsuke Watanabe serves as the color designer. Tetsuya Nishimura takes on the role of director of photography, Jun’ichi Masunaga handles editing, Chikako Yokota is the sound director, and Hinako Tsubakiyama is responsible for composing the music.

The returning cast for the anime includes Uchida as Ichi-hime, Yūki Ono as Wanjirō, and Koshimizu as Kaguya-hime, along with Hiroki Yasumoto as Osamu Saitō. Other cast members featured are Saito, Tetsuya Kakihara, Kana Ueda, Akari Kitō, Mai Nakahara, Yui Horie, Shin Furukawa, and Maria Naganawa.

This anime serves as a sequel to Mahjong Soul Pon☆. The first installment, Mahjong Soul Pon☆ (Jong-Tama Pong☆), which was characterized as “comical,” aired in April 2022. Crunchyroll provided streaming for the series during its original broadcast.

Cat Food Studio, a Chinese game company, developed the online mahjong game and introduced it in China in 2018. Yostar later launched the game in Japan as a web browser game in April 2019. Currently, the game is accessible as a mobile app on both iOS and Android devices.

While the game itself is free-to-play, players have the option to enhance their avatar characters and acquire accessories through micro-transactions.
