Condolences pour in following the passing of Grammy-winning American Idol vocalist Mandisa Lynn Hundley, aged 47.

Fellow Idol alum Danny Gokey expressed his grief on X (formerly Twitter), stating he was “devastated” by the news.

Mandisa’s publicist, confirming to a source, disclosed that she was discovered deceased in her residence on Thursday.

“At this time, we do not know the cause of death or any further details,” they added.

“We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time.”

The singer, affectionately known as Mandisa, clinched a Grammy Award in 2014 for her album “Overcomer” in the best contemporary Christian music category.

Having risen to prominence through her participation in season five of American Idol in 2006, where she secured the ninth spot, Mandisa embarked on a remarkable journey in Christian music, achieving considerable success.

Her albums, including “What If We Were Real” (2011), “Freedom” (2009), and “True Beauty” (2007), garnered Grammy nominations, showcasing her talent and impact in the industry.

In her 2022 memoir, “Out of the Dark: My Journey Through The Shadows To Find God’s Joy,” Mandisa bravely shared her struggles with depression and grief, offering a glimpse into her personal battles and her quest for spiritual fulfillment.
