In the anime industry, few companies have experienced a meteoric rise like MAPPA Studios. Over the past decade, the studio has emerged as a major player, credited with a string of blockbuster hits including Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, and Chainsaw Man.

Despite facing criticism regarding its workplace environment, MAPPA continues to thrive, and recent news of a management overhaul has fans buzzing.

MAPPA’s official website recently updated its management roster, revealing key changes within the company. Hiroya Hasegawa joins as the new vice president, while Shuuhei Yabuta joins the board of directors. Additionally, Keisuke Seshimo has been promoted to executive officer.

At the helm, Manabu Otsuka retains his position as president and CEO, ensuring continuity in the studio’s leadership. Similarly, Masai Maruyama remains chairman of the board, alongside directors Yasuaki Iwase and Kosuke Hosogai.

The addition of Hasegawa brings significant industry expertise to MAPPA, known for their work on The Ancient Magus’ Bride and Xenoblade Chronicles. Having previously collaborated with MAPPA on Maboroshi, Hasegawa’s role as vice president signals a promising future for the studio.

While the impact of this management overhaul remains to be seen, MAPPA is poised for a busy period with a slew of upcoming projects. From the highly anticipated Jujutsu Kaisen season three to a Chainsaw Man movie, the studio’s success is undeniable.

However, this success has been accompanied by criticism regarding its work culture, with several animators voicing grievances. It is hoped that this management restructuring will address these concerns and foster a positive work environment moving forward.
