On a recent episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Megyn Kelly made critical remarks about Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, accusing her of having used a past relationship with then-California Assembly Speaker Willie Brown to advance her political career.

Kelly dismissed claims of slut-shaming, asserting that Harris’s actions were relevant to her political ascent. According to Kelly, Harris’s affair with Brown, who was significantly older and an influential figure in San Francisco politics, played a key role in her early political success.

Kelly argued that Harris’s relationship with Brown yielded substantial benefits for her, suggesting that the affair was strategically motivated to boost her political trajectory. This criticism echoes a longstanding narrative that has resurfaced periodically since Harris’s campaign for San Francisco District Attorney in the early 2000s.

Despite such accusations, Harris has maintained her independence from Brown, emphasizing in a 2003 interview that her career was self-made and not controlled by Brown.

Kelly’s critique extended beyond Harris’s past, as she condemned the process by which Harris became the Democratic nominee, labeling it as fraudulent. She also described Harris as a “bully” and compared her to Meghan Markle, alleging that Harris creates a hostile work environment in the White House, making it difficult for people to work with her.

The context of Harris’s early career involves her being admitted to the California Bar in 1990 and subsequently working as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County. Her relationship with Brown began in 1994, during which Brown appointed her to the state unemployment insurance appeals board. Their relationship and Harris’s political appointments during this period were publicly known and discussed.

After their breakup in 1995, Brown went on to become the Mayor of San Francisco, while Harris continued her career in law. She worked as an assistant DA in San Francisco before resigning in 2000 due to disagreements over juvenile prosecution policies.

Harris then joined the City Attorney’s office and was elected as San Francisco’s District Attorney in 2003, showcasing her continued rise in politics independently of her past relationship with Brown.
