A surprise collaboration is in the works between country music icon Miranda Lambert, 40, and Latin pop sensation Enrique Iglesias, 48. The duo announced their upcoming duet, “Space in My Heart,” set for release on Feb. 22, via social media.

Lambert and Iglesias revealed their collaboration by sharing a teaser of the unreleased track along with the single’s artwork on Instagram. The artwork features a captivating black-and-white photograph showcasing Lambert with her gaze lowered and Iglesias making direct eye contact with the camera.

The country star also posted to her Instagram Story to share how excited she was to drop the song. “Texas meets Spain!,” she wrote over the single artwork, referring to her native Texas and how Iglesias hails from Madrid. She added,

“Can’t wait for y’all to hear this one.”

The brief audio snippet teased by the Grammy-winning duo suggests that their upcoming song is a heartfelt, romantic ballad exploring themes of longing.

“You don’t love me yet / But I know you will / If you only felt / Half of what I feel / If you ever go / I will never change / There’s a space in my heart / And it’s just your shape,” they harmonize in the snippet.

The song appears to blend elements from both of their respective genres, incorporating the delicate strumming of an acoustic guitar while showcasing Lambert’s signature twang and Iglesias’ smooth crooning vocals.

“Space in My Heart” signifies the inaugural collaboration between these two esteemed singer-songwriters. It remains uncertain whether the single will stand alone or be included in a larger project, such as Iglesias’ upcoming album Final Vol. 2.

The song marks Lambert’s debut release of the year, following her collaboration “If You Were Mine” with Leon Bridges in June 2023. This release comes after Lambert’s departure from her longtime record label, Sony Music Nashville, announced in March of the same year after a 19-year partnership.

In an Instagram post, the CMA Award winner expressed gratitude for her time with the label while also emphasizing her need for new challenges and creative growth. She wrote,

“I’m so thankful for our time together and everything they made possible for me, yet I wouldn’t be true to myself if I wasn’t constantly looking for the next challenge and a new way to stretch my creativity. With that in mind, I’ve decided to say goodbye to my Sony family. I can’t wait to see what the next adventure holds.”

Regarding the “Bailando” artist, he recently unveiled “Fría,” a collaboration with Cuban singer Yotuel, slated to be included on his forthcoming album Final (Vol. 2). This album holds significant weight as it is set to be the Spanish superstar’s final release. The first half of the project, Final (Vol. 1), was released in 2021.

Despite confirming that Final (Vol. 2) will be his last full-length album, Enrique Iglesias clarified in a 2021 interview that this doesn’t signify his retirement.

The “Hero” singer emphasized that while he won’t be making more albums, he intends to continue writing songs. In a November 2023 interview with TODAY, Iglesias hinted at a February 2024 release for Final (Vol. 2), although an official date has yet to be announced.
