The 48-year-old comedian canceled the recent gig at the Mayflower Theatre, with both shows being part of his ‘Magnificent’ world tour.

Ticket holders are assured that the shows will be rescheduled, and their tickets will remain valid for the new dates.

A statement on the comedian’s X (formerly Twitter) account read:

“We regret to inform customers that Michael McIntyre will be unable to perform on Monday 4 March at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. Unfortunately, Michael has had an operation to remove kidney stones. The show will be rescheduled to a later date which will be announced shortly.”

Kidney stones are a prevalent issue, impacting over one in 10 individuals, as reported. Typically developing in one or both kidneys, they predominantly affect those aged between 30 and 60.

These stones can induce intense pain and, in certain instances, pose risks of complications such as kidney infections or impaired kidney function. Understanding their nature and essential information about them is crucial.

The Severity Of Kidney Stones

Kidney stones can vary in severity depending on factors like size, location, and whether they cause complications.

While smaller stones may pass on their own with minimal discomfort, larger stones can be extremely painful and may require medical intervention such as lithotripsy or surgery. In some cases, kidney stones can lead to complications such as kidney infections or obstruction of the urinary tract, which can be serious if not promptly treated.

Therefore, it’s important to seek medical attention if one suspects to have kidney stones.

Kidney Stones Treatment

Treatment options for kidney stones vary depending on factors such as the size and location of the stones.

They can include pain management and increased fluid intake to help flush out the stones naturally.

Another option is lithotripsy, a procedure that uses high-energy shock waves to break the stones into smaller pieces, allowing them to pass through the urine.

In some cases, surgical removal, like what McIntyre underwent, may be necessary for larger or more complex stones.
