The Dallas Cowboys have experienced a relatively quiet offseason, but sometimes the absence of noise speaks volumes. With linebacker Eric Kendricks being the sole addition through free agency thus far, the Cowboys have seen the departure of several notable names, including left tackle Tyron Smith and running back Tony Pollard.

However, despite the lack of high-profile acquisitions, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy remains confident in the state of his roster. He sees potential for improvement with the return of key players.

“I firmly believe in the leap players make from their second to third year. We have some young talent, and there are players returning from IR who we’re excited about,” McCarthy expressed. “So, without a doubt, we are making strides. Our focus just isn’t on the current free agent market.”

McCarthy emphasized that not actively participating in free agency doesn’t necessarily indicate a negative outlook. He stressed that true championship contenders are often built through the draft. Additionally, McCarthy highlighted that while the initial waves of free agency may have passed, there are still opportunities to enhance the roster.

“Remember, there’s still a lot of movement left,” McCarthy noted. “There’s typically another surge in activity before and after the draft, and then there’s the June 1 market. Plus, we’ll be welcoming another draft class. So, I have full confidence in the depth and potential of our roster moving forward.”
