In the first-season finale of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the couple gets into a cataclysmic argument, but can John and Jane make it through? Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as the title couple in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Episode eight, “A Breakup,” premieres soon after the Smiths have their third mission failure. The fight starts after John (allegedly) kills Jane’s cat, Max, even though Jane is hesitant to murder John when their supervisor “Hihi” gives the order.

Following a rendezvous at a museum that results in a foot chase, the estranged couple engages in a spectacular firefight in their opulent brownstone. John can keep Jane under control long enough to give herself and him an injection of truth serum.

They have their most direct and honest talk to date as a result, and they discover that they genuinely love one another and that John did not kill Max.

At that point, Wagner Moura and Parker Posey’s “Extremely High-Risk” Smiths reappearance indicates that they had been recruited to assassinate them. John is shot and hurt during the escape, but the Smiths can make it to their safe room.

Jane unlocks the safe room door to confront Posey’s Jane, who is waiting to attack outside, despite only having one bullet left in her own body.

The Mr. & Mrs. Smith reboot finale ends with a note that might work well as a terrific hook for a second season or as a bittersweet conclusion. Even though Jane (real name: Ilana) and John (real name: Michael) managed to reach their safe room, John’s bullet wound is not healing very well.

Determined not to let him die, Jane gets ready to battle Posey’s killer. Three gunshots are seen from a window outside the brownstone in the final scene before the mid-credit sequence, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s conclusion leaves John and Jane’s future unclear.

Though it should be acknowledged that the “High-Risk” Smiths are the greatest in the business, an optimist would hope that Jane defeats and kills the other Mrs. Smith.

To put it briefly, they pose a serious threat, therefore it probably wouldn’t be that simple. Theoretically, he should be slightly less of an issue because Erskine’s Jane was able to partially blind Moura’s Mr Smith before they even made it to the safe room.

Adding more murderous spouses who work for the corporation is one of the adjustments made to Amazon’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which has no connection to the film.

When John and Jane “accidentally” run into this couple on their day off in episode 4, they extend an invitation to supper. Making certain coworkers your friends at work sounds like a smart idea, considering their unique line of work, but these “high-risk” Smiths quickly con John and Jane into going on a risky errand for them.

The “Extremely High-Risk” designation in Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s finale indicates that this pair is called in to “finalize” other Smiths on “Hihi’s” commands. This makes sense—killing two highly skilled assassins seems like a difficult task, to put it mildly.

The “high-risk” Smiths admit to like John and Jane, but they’re not going to let it get in the way of business because the work is also well compensated. To save themselves the trouble, they attempt to incite John and Jane to murder one another; but, when it is obvious that this will not succeed, they go to the brownstone to complete the task themselves.
