This time, the focus will shift to Luna Goodwin, daughter of Dr. Max Goodwin, as she assumes her father’s role within the hospital. While specifics of the plot remain undisclosed, it’s been hinted that the storyline will explore the impact of artificial intelligence on the hospital system.

Although Molly Griggs portrayed Luna in a flash-forward during the New Amsterdam finale, her return to the role for the spinoff has yet to be confirmed.

Schulner revealed that the idea of featuring an adult Luna came from his 11-year-old daughter, who suggested the concept. The decision gained traction among the show’s writers, ultimately leading to the incorporation of Luna as the medical director in the series finale.

Reflecting on the series’ conclusion, Schulner expressed satisfaction with the full circle moment, noting Luna’s poignant speech in the auditorium echoing her father’s sentiments from the pilot episode. The parallelism served as a fitting tribute to the show’s journey, encapsulating Luna’s personal connection to the hospital and her aspirations as a doctor.
