The New York Giants have been active in both free agency and trades this offseason, making several notable moves to reshape their roster.

While they saw key players like Saquon Barkley and A’Shawn Robinson depart, the Giants brought in a mix of new talent, including interior offensive linemen Jon Runyan Jr., Aaron Stinnie, and Austin Schlottmann, tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, running back Devin Singletary, and backup quarterback Drew Lock.

The Giants acquired star edge rusher Brian Burns in a trade and subsequently signed him to a lucrative contract extension.

However, these acquisitions left the Giants with minimal salary cap space, ranking them last in the league in available funds. To address this issue, they restructured the contract of Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence. By converting a portion of Lawrence’s base salary into a signing bonus, the Giants created additional cap space, which should be sufficient to sign their upcoming draft class.

This move also positions the Giants to potentially make further roster adjustments, including the possibility of trading up in the draft for a top quarterback prospect. While such a move would require additional cap-clearing measures, it could prove worthwhile if they secure their desired franchise quarterback.
