After a challenging three seasons with the New York Jets, quarterback Zach Wilson has been granted permission by the team’s general manager, Joe Douglas, to explore a trade. This decision comes amidst weeks of speculation that Wilson could be traded in the offseason, and now, his representatives are free to engage in discussions with all 31 other NFL teams.

Despite being the second overall pick in the draft three years ago, Wilson’s market may not be extensive. He has faced challenges with accuracy, injuries, and perceived leadership issues during his time in the NFL. The Jets notably acquired Aaron Rodgers as a potential successor before the 2023 season, indicating a lack of confidence in Wilson.

One potential destination for Wilson could be the Buffalo Bills, where quarterback Josh Allen has a close relationship with Aaron Rodgers. While trading within the division might not be the Jets’ preference, Buffalo’s offensive style could better suit Wilson, and the Bills could benefit from adding long-term potential to their backup quarterback room.

Another intriguing option is the Kansas City Chiefs, where Wilson could learn from one of his early comparisons, Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs currently lack a developed long-term backup for Mahomes, and the opportunity to work under the guidance of head coach Andy Reid could be enticing for Wilson.

The Philadelphia Eagles are exploring options to bolster their quarterback depth behind Jalen Hurts. While the preference is for a more established backup, there’s a possibility that in-house prospect Tanner McKee could rise to the No. 2 spot.

The Eagles, known for their proactive approach in accumulating quarterback assets, are considering options like Zach Wilson, who shares a mobile playing style with Hurts. The team has shown prior interest in Wilson, who was a target during his college days with the Jets. The connection between Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman and Jets’ GM Joe Douglas adds intrigue to a potential move.

Even though Wilson may not be the definitive answer, his presence would add competition for Aidan O’Connell at the quarterback position. However, the Eagles might also explore avenues in the 2024 draft or consider significant trades, potentially targeting quarterbacks like Justin Fields.

The Los Angeles Rams, renowned for their willingness to undertake quarterback projects, have a history of in-season moves for players like Baker Mayfield and Carson Wentz. While Matthew Stafford remains the established starter after an impressive 2023, the Rams could be open to acquiring a younger developmental option, especially with Wentz heading towards free agency.
