Nick Knowles surprised audiences with a markedly different appearance, prompting many to struggle to recognize the star. The 61-year-old TV presenter appeared on The One Show alongside Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden to discuss his latest show.
Host Alex Jones didn’t shy away from addressing the apparent transformation, highlighting Nick’s departure from his usual look that viewers have grown accustomed to.
The DIY SOS star sported a much longer beard on the BBC show as Alex said:
“There’s an elephant in the room here. Nobody’s talking about it. There’s a new look, Nick, going on well.”
He replied:
“There’s there’s two things with it. One is I’m not actually doing any filming for a while. I’m doing some writing and things and so I had the chance to grow a beard and actually, weirdly for men you get a chance to grow a beard, like, ‘I’ll grow one.”
“I can’t have a beard like this when I’m filming. So that was one thing. And the other thing is a friend asked me to do some acting and years ago, long when… I’ve been on TV for 40 years now. When I started out, I started doing a bit of acting and I’ve been asked in-between. Now I’ve got a bit of space, so I’ve said yes to play a part.”
Viewers took to social media where they were stunned by Nick’s new look.

Nick’s fiancée Katie Dadzie offered a glimpse into their domestic life, as the 34-year-old lingerie business owner shared snapshots from her birthday festivities on Instagram. Captured in their boudoir mirror, Katie sported a form-fitting brown patterned mini dress, elegantly paired with coordinating over-the-knee suede boots.
In another photo captured at a restaurant, Katie shared a selfie alongside her soon-to-be husband Nick, revealing their “birthday dinner date” outing.
The mother-of-two disclosed that she initially met Nick through their children in 2019, confessing that she “actually didn’t like him very much” at the outset.
She revealed her lack of knowledge about Nick’s TV career back then, recalling how he dominated the conversation, leaving little room for her to speak.
They later decided to meet for coffee and discovered shared interests in cooking and history. Despite their connection, Katie has faced online harassment due to their age difference, with some labeling her a ‘gold digger.’ Nick staunchly defended her on social media, highlighting Katie’s accomplishments:
“She has degrees in two subjects, runs three businesses, is a mother of two, is wealthier and more successful than me, and is intelligent and independent unlike the abusive trolls attacking her.”
