It’s common knowledge that the young actors portraying the Straw Hat Pirates in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece are huge fans of the Shonen franchise.

Emily Rudd, for instance, went to great lengths to secure the role of Nami. In preparation for the second season, the captain of the Straw Hats took advantage of the opportunity to sail the world, gearing up for what was to come. It’s highly speculated that the next season will likely bring Luffy and his crew to Drum Island and Alabasta.

When we last saw Luffy and his comrades in the first season, they were setting sail for the Grand Line, chasing their dreams. Despite their significant victory against Arlong and the Fish Men, the Straw Hat Pirates are sure to face formidable challenges in season two.

Fortunately, they’ll receive assistance as One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda has confirmed that Tony Tony Chopper, the reindeer doctor from Drum Island, will be joining the crew.

This new addition will prove invaluable as Luffy and his friends confront adversaries like Crocodile and the remnants of Baroque works, should the adaptation continue to follow the source material.

Inaki Godoy Seen to at Sea

Before filming for Netflix’s second season of One Piece kicks off, Inaki Godoy took to the seas, spending approximately eighty days sailing.

While he may not have mastered the art of turning his body into rubber-like Monkey D. Luffy, it’s evident that the dedicated young actor is fully committed to his role. Luffy might be unable to swim due to consuming a Devil Fruit, but that won’t deter him from sailing into the Grand Line with the ambition of becoming the King of the Pirates.

Thanks to the success of One Piece on Netflix, the doors may be opening wider for live-action adaptations of anime. Lionsgate has confirmed its development of a live-action Naruto movie, while Netflix is working on bringing Mobile Suit Gundam and My Hero Academia to life in live-action format.
