With the release of its historic 100th episode, Season 13 of Death in Paradise takes a dramatic turn. In the momentous episode, Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) is shot by an unidentified assailant, and DS Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson) has to deal with the awkward fallout from her drunken kiss with Officer Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles) at the Christmas party.

First, there’s a flashback to fifty years ago when a van ran over young Selwyn’s bike, causing him to be late for his police entrance exam. The Royal Yacht Club of Saint Marie is currently honoring Selwyn for his half-century of dedicated service with a special dinner.

The club’s acting manager, Marlon Collins, played by Sean Maguire, then drops by to check on things. Loyal viewers will remember that Marlon made his television debut in the show’s pilot episode, where he was detained and confined to the Honoré police station’s cells for allegedly stealing yachts. What a shift!

Do you want to know a little bit more about Death in Paradise season 13, episode 2, after tonight’s major premiere on BBC One? To put it simply, there is a lot to be enthusiastic about in this situation! One aspect of this franchise has remained largely constant over the years despite all of the changes that have occurred.

The true challenge here is to figure out how to make certain elements stand out, week after week because this is a murder mystery show that knows exactly what it is. We can say, at least for the near future, that the upcoming installment has every chance of being fascinating.

Selwyn Patterson, the commissioner, is having difficulties following his shocking shooting. Will he be able to put his past behind him and move on as the team comes together around him?

In another instance, a murder at a care facility shocks the neighborhood after a bingo game goes terribly wrong. But could someone really lose their life over something that insignificant? Neville and the team realize that this case is far more complex than it initially seems, as it takes a number of astounding turns and turns.

As of right now, it appears that the Patterson narrative will dominate for a significant portion of the season, which is obviously significant in addition to each of the individual cases.

Beyond all of this, though, keep in mind that the location is one of the true stars of the show, and we don’t think that will change. If it weren’t for the frequent murders that occur here, the location would appear to be ideal.
