Pledis Entertainment Faces Major Backlash After Allegedly Throwing Shade At BLACKPINK, TWICE, And NCT

Pledis Entertainment Faces Major Backlash After Allegedly Throwing Shade At Various Kpop Bands

Pledis Entertainment faces scrutiny for allegedly minimizing the achievements of artists like BLACKPINK, NCT, and TWICE.

On January 29, a viral post titled “Pledis Turning Other Artists’ Concerts Into One-Offs” highlighted concerns. The post featured an article from Pledis, asserting that SEVENTEEN, alongside BTS, was the sole idol group to undertake a stadium tour.

Pledis Entertainment reported, “SEVENTEEN engaged with 700,000 fans across 9 cities through 20 concerts, spanning Seoul, Tokyo, Saitama, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, Bangkok, Bulacan, and Macau. Notably, their Japanese performances took place in dome stadiums, showcasing SEVENTEEN’s ticket-selling prowess with stadium shows in Macau, Bangkok, and Bulacan. Excluding one-off events, Pledis asserts that SEVENTEEN, alongside BTS, is the only K-Pop group to accomplish a stadium tour.”

The post’s author criticized Pledis for allegedly diminishing the accomplishments of other artists who held stadium performances by labeling them as “One-offs.”

The statement goes by “I’m not comparing the size of the concerts, but NCT had a stadium tour in Korea and Japan. SM has never called it a “One-off” concert, but Pledis just released an article saying that it was. Pledis’s marketing strategy is really weird. I saw that commenters wrote that BLACKPINK and TWICE have also performed (in stadium tours), but Pledis just made their achievements insignificant.”

Netizens strongly reacted to the post, expressing frustration and anger towards Pledis Entertainment. Numerous fans voiced bewilderment, emphasizing SEVENTEEN’s established success without the need for Pledis to belittle other artists. Many also noted Pledis’s apparent attempt to position SEVENTEEN on par with BTS.

  • I raised my eyebrows when they mentioned Saitama, but I’m bewildered by the fact that TWICE isn’t mentioned. I understand they want to brag about SEVENTEEN being on the same level as BTS, but, lol. I think Pledis really benefits from its artists’ image.
  • Look how they dismiss the records of female idols, lol. WTF.
  • Pledis deserves to be criticized.
  • They seem desperate.
