Pocketpair, the developer behind Palworld, has announced a new joint venture with Sony Music and Aniplex called Palworld Entertainment. This partnership aims to leverage the success of Palworld, a game that rapidly amassed over 25 million players globally within a month of its early access launch.
According to a press release, the joint venture will focus on expanding the game’s intellectual property beyond interactive gaming into areas such as global licensing, merchandising, and commercial ventures.
One of the initial projects under Palworld Entertainment will involve the development and exclusive sale of merchandise based on the game. This merchandise is set to debut at the Pocketpair booth during Bilibili World 2024, showcasing the partnership’s commitment to broadening Palworld’s reach through consumer products.
Aniplex, a subsidiary of the Sony Group, brings substantial expertise in entertainment and media, particularly in anime production, merchandise sales, and game publishing. Their involvement signifies a strategic alignment to enhance Palworld’s presence in diverse markets worldwide.
Takuro Mizobe, who serves as both the president of Palworld Entertainment and the CEO of Pocketpair, highlighted Palworld’s unique appeal at Summer Game Fest 2024. He credited the game’s popularity to its blend of charming creature designs and innovative automation mechanics, which offer players a fresh take on survival gaming.
Palworld Entertainment aims to accelerate the multifaceted development of Palworld through extensive domestic operations and strategic licensing initiatives.
