In the recent episode of “The King of Mask Singer,” the mystery behind “Fortune Pouch” was unveiled during the February 18 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, where four contestants aimed to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.

Fortune Pouch, in the first match-up of Round 2, showcased her versatile skills with a captivating rendition of Heize’s popular track, “Don’t Know You.”

Despite receiving praise from the celebrity panellists for her sweet vocal tone and the appealing contrast between her angelic singing and stylish rapping, Fortune Pouch faced defeat in the round, revealing her identity as AOA’s Dohwa (formerly known as Chanmi) when unmasking.

Host Kim Sung Joo took the opportunity to inquire about Dohwa’s transition from being a singer to focusing on her acting career. Doha, candidly and with a laugh, shared, “The biggest difference I feel these days is that I’m experiencing the feeling of rejection a lot. When I was promoted as a singer, my schedule was determined through meetings.”

She continues, “But now that I’m auditioning for roles, I get rejected way more often than I get the part, so I’m getting used to being rejected all the time, and I think I’m in the process of learning how to handle that emotionally.”

Kim Sung Joo also delved into Dohwa’s appearance on “Queendom Puzzle” last year, prompting her to share her observations on the evolving trends in the idol industry.

Dohwa noted a slight generation gap with younger girl group members, explaining, “It’s been 12 years since I debuted, and back in my day, we wore a lot of custom-made outfits.

But nowadays, it’s much more common for idols to wear outfits that have been bought and then customized. The hair and makeup trends have changed a lot too.

When I was promoted, we used a lot of false lashes and heavy makeup, but idols these days have a cleaner, more doll-like look for their makeup.”
