Millwood High’s secrets will remain under wraps as Max has officially canceled the reboot of Pretty Little Liars after just two seasons. On September 20, the streaming service announced that it would not move forward with a third season, expressing gratitude to co-creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, as well as the team at Warner Bros. Television, for their efforts in reviving the franchise.

The statement highlighted the creative vision that connected the reboot to the original series while introducing new elements to engage fans.

The reboot, titled Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, premiered in July 2022 and featured a fresh cast, including Zaria, Malia Pyles, Chandler Kinney, Bailee Madison, and Maia Reficco.

This series aimed to offer a modern twist on the iconic story, focusing on a new group of Liars who confront a sinister villain in their town of Millwood. The show sought to pay homage to its predecessor, which originally aired in 2010 and starred a different ensemble of actors.

The second season concluded with a dramatic cliffhanger, featuring masked figures reminiscent of the main characters, which left viewers eager for more. However, with the show’s cancellation, fans and cast members alike are reflecting on their experiences.

Many expressed gratitude for the opportunity, with Pyles noting how the show changed her life and brought her new friendships. Reficco echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the love and support they received from fans throughout their journey.

Co-creator Bring also shared her appreciation for the project, highlighting the significance of telling meaningful stories centered around diverse and powerful female characters. She expressed her pride in the narratives crafted during the series and thanked fans for their engagement. Bring’s post emphasized the personal impact of the experience and her commitment to horror storytelling.

Despite the cancellation, there’s a hint of optimism for a reunion among the cast. Original series star Lucy Hale has expressed a desire to reconnect with her former co-stars, suggesting a fun reunion format similar to Real Housewives of Rosewood. This playful idea hints at the enduring affection for the franchise and the possibility of future collaborations among the cast.
