“Pseudo Harem” Anime Revealing Romance And Comedy Delights With Eiji And Rin

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Yū Saitō’s Giji Harem (Pseudo Harem) manga revealed the anime’s first promotional video on Monday, along with additional staff details and its scheduled premiere in July. The video also introduces and previews the opening theme song, “Blouse,” performed by the music group GOHOBI.

Eiji From Pseudo Harem Anime (Credits: Nomad)

The anime stars Nobuhiko Okamoto as Eiji Kitahama and Saori Hayami as Rin Nanakura. Additionally, on February 22, the anime’s staff announced that Mai Narumi will voice the character of Ayaka Nanakura, Rin’s younger sister.

Toshihiro Kikuchi (known for Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! and episode direction for Attack on Titan) is directing the anime at Nomad. Yuuko Kakihara (credited for works like Aikatsu Friends! and Asobi Asobase -workshop of fun-) is overseeing the series scripts, while Yoshihisa Sato (key animator for March comes in like a lion and Re:CREATORS) is responsible for character design.

Pony Canyon is handling music production, with Takeshi Watanabe (known for works like To Love-Ru and Ro-Kyu-Bu!) composing the music.

The romantic comedy manga revolves around Eiji, a second-year high school student and member of the school’s drama club as a stagehand. He crosses paths with Rin, a first-year high school student and fellow drama club member, who becomes the club’s much-awaited beacon of hope.

Saitō originally debuted the manga on Twitter in 2018, amassing a cumulative total of 5.6 million likes as of April 2023. It later transitioned to serialization in Shogakukan’s Monthly Shonen Sunday (Gessan) magazine in 2019, ranking #7 on the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in 2019. The manga concluded with its sixth volume in April 2021.
