Real Reason Why Gogeta Is the Most Powerful Super Saiyan Fusion Over Vegito

The Buu Saga in “Dragon Ball Z” brought the concept of fusion into the series, allowing Goku and Vegeta to combine their strengths through either the Potara earrings or the Fusion Dance. These techniques resulted in two powerful fused characters: Vegito and Gogeta.

The debate among “Dragon Ball” fans over which fusion, Vegito or Gogeta, is stronger has been ongoing. Historically, a Q&A in a 2018 issue of “Weekly Shonen Jump” described Vegito and Gogeta as evenly matched.

However, the prevailing argument in favor of Gogeta’s superiority stems from the fusion’s durability. Goku and Vegeta can maintain their Gogeta form longer than Vegito due to the Fusion Dance’s 30-minute limit, which they struggle to maintain in the face of their immense power during their fight with Zamasu in Dragon Ball Super.

Online discussions often highlight the equivalence in strength between Vegito and Gogeta, but the extended duration of Gogeta’s fusion tips the scales in his favor.

This advantage is reinforced by the rules introduced in Dragon Ball Super, where Vegito’s fusion time is significantly shorter in the anime compared to the manga. Additionally, the vulnerability of the Potara earrings — which can be destroyed — poses a risk to Vegito’s fusion, favoring Gogeta’s fusion stability in combat.

While some analyses, like those featured in Rooster Teeth’s “DEATH BATTLE!” series, lean towards Vegito based on technicalities such as the Potara’s extended fusion time of one hour, they acknowledge the Fusion Dance’s requirement of equal power levels between Goku and Vegeta, which slightly diminishes Goku’s power to match Vegeta’s.

Despite this, the time discrepancy between the anime and manga versions of Vegito’s fusion in “Dragon Ball Super” weakens Vegito’s standing against Gogeta, who remains the preferred fusion for sustained combat scenarios.
