Resident Alien Season 3 Episode 2 Recap: The Upper Hand

The strong start of Resident Alien from last week is still going strong. Another entertaining film, “The Upper Hand,” has excellent jokes, smart one-liners, and strong acting. Already, Season 3 appears to be stronger narratively, more cogent, and completely realized than Season 2.

I’m eager to follow this journey wherever it leads. From the child being kidnapped from Yellowstone in the 1950s to Ben proposing that he and Kate take a vacation there, Yellowstone plays a significant role in this story. Harry is also aware of The Greys’ kidnappings of individuals from that area, including Ben’s.

It hurts to see that heap of children’s shoes. From a story drama perspective, I’m not looking forward to Kate finding out her baby was taken out of her womb by aliens.

Recap

A flashback to 70 years ago opens the show. A young girl in Yellowstone National Park camps with her family. She is holding a torch and a snow globe. Her father warns her about straying too far. But when she happens upon a hot spring, she witnesses the emergence of a grey extraterrestrial. She lets out a cry and drops the snow globe.

Max (Judah Prehn) then introduces Harry to his new pals Mari (Grace Sunar) and Leo (Hwaa Hawk). Max wants to convince his friends that Harry is extraterrestrial as he has been dubbed the alien tracker. The person at the door is Harry (Alan Tudyk). He’s got shaving cream all over his face and chest.

That is typical. Regretfully, Harry’s extraterrestrial appearance is only visible to Max. Leo and Mari are unable to. When Harry inquires about Sahar’s whereabouts, Max replies that she moved. He requests that Harry prove his alien status to Mari and Leo.

Disregarding to offer Max the advantage (the title of the episode!), Harry fabricates his extraterrestrial status. Max pulls out the extraterrestrial tracker. Harry acknowledges that he has been searching for that for weeks in his mind. He pretends to be uninterested here. Mari and Leo choose to part ways.

They probably shock Max outside using the apparatus. Harry chuckles as we watch them haul him off. Following Harry’s encounter with Joseph (Enver Gjokaj), Harry is nearly fined for trash. Harry, however, uses the old “dumping my liquid coffee on the ground is not a crime” tactic and tosses the ticket Joseph left inside his truck.

You are aware of the one. As everything is going on, D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund) objects to Asta (Sara Tomko) going out again with Joseph. Asta says she’s going to be alright. She is only there to gather information for Harry.Joseph says he understands The Greys’ strategy.

But Harry shows his rival to be a naive fool. Joseph is viewed as a lackey by the Greys. Harry believes that The Greys won’t allow him to survive. Joseph storms out, irate, but not before flipping Harry the bird and smashing his favorite statue. I laughed so hard at this scene. Together, Gjokaj and Tudyk are amusing. I especially enjoy watching Gjokaj accept his humorous abilities. This is a little reunion of Dollhouse, which is fun.
