On Wednesday, the official Twitter account for the live-action adaptation of Rensuke Oshikiri’s horror manga “Sayuri” revealed that Ryōka Minamide will portray the film’s protagonist, Norio, the eldest son of the Kamiki family.

Directed by Kōji Shiraishi (known for “Sadako vs. Kayako” and “Impossibility Defense”), the film is set to be released by Showgate this summer. The story revolves around a family that moves into their new house, only to encounter mysterious phenomena plaguing both the family and the dwelling.

Originally serialized in Gentosha Comics’ Comic Birz magazine from January 2010 to March 2011, the “Sayuri” manga spans two volumes. Oshikiri, the creator, is also known for his work on the “Hi Score Girl” manga series, which debuted in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine in 2010 and concluded in September 2018.

Oshikiri later launched the “Hi Score Girl DASH” spinoff in Big Gangan in December 2019, which complemented the original series that inspired two television anime adaptations.
