Cowan complemented the look with a gold tie while both adorned silver and gold roses on their waists, paying homage to the event’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme.
Explaining their fashion inspiration to Vogue’s red carpet co-hosts, Cowan mentioned drawing from the 1940s and referencing Oscar Wilde.
He highlighted their shared British and queer identity, describing the English rose as a perfect symbol for the occasion. Cowan reminisced about gifting Smith a metal-plated rose in the early days of their relationship.
