Sam Waterston is leaving Law & Order, and a new actor with presidential experience is joining the show.

On Friday, NBC revealed that Tony Goldwyn, known from Scandal, will join Law & Order, succeeding the iconic 83-year-old star who portrayed District Attorney Jack McCoy for 30 years and over 400 episodes. The final episode airs on Feb. 22.

While serving as DA McCoy, Waterston earned a SAG Award and received numerous Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.Tony Goldwyn, 63, joins Law & Order alongside regulars Hugh Dancy, Camryn Manheim, Odelya Halevi, Mehcad Brooks, and Reid Scott.

Goldwyn, 63, gained prominence portraying President Fitzgerald Grant on Scandal opposite Kerry Washington from 2012 to 2018.

Goldwyn had a breakthrough role in the 1990 film Ghost, portraying the scheming friend of Patrick Swayze’s Sam Wheat and Demi Moore’s Molly. He showcases his directorial prowess with films like A Walk on the Moon, The Last Kiss, Someone Like You, Conviction, and the upcoming feature Ezra.
