Satelight has announced the television anime adaptation of Taiga Miyakawa’s “Tasūketsu” manga, set to debut later this year. Tatsuo Satō, known for works like “Martian Successor Nadesico” and “Lagrange – The Flower of Rin-ne,” is directing the anime and overseeing the series scripts at Satelight.
The assistant director is Tōru Hamazaki, and Nami Hayashi, the chief animation director for “Black Clover,” is in charge of character design. R.O.N, recognized for contributions to “FLCL Alternative” and “The Slime Diaries,” is composing the music.
The cast includes Yūto Uemura as Saneatsu Narita, Anna Nagase as Saaya Fujishiro, Kazuki Ura as Ryūta Ichinose, Kouki Ohsuzu as Kazuhiko Satō, Shiori Mikami as Omi Jin, Yuki Nakashima as Eren Kunashiri, Daisuke Ono as Tōjūrō Yagihashi, Jun Kasama as Ryōei Sudō, Shūta Morishima as Sōtarō Shinozaki, KENN as Ren Iruga, Kenjiro Tsuda as Hisoka Midō, and Yuka Terasaki as Emperor.
The manga ranked in the top 10 on the “manga we want to see animated” ranking at the AnimeJapan 2019 and AnimeJapan 2020 events.
The “Tasūketsu” manga, written by Taiga Miyakawa, originally premiered its first part in 2013, concluding in 2014. The second part, titled “Tasūketsu: FINAL KEQ,” began in 2015 and ended in 2017. The third part, “Tasūketsu: Judgement Assizes,” debuted on GANMA! in November 2017.
Set in a world where people have mysteriously vanished, the manga’s narrative revolves around a group of five individuals.
A self-proclaimed “Emperor” contacts them anonymously and initiates a game where participants must answer the question “Do you want to live or die?” The game has a single rule: “Majority dies.”
The manga previously inspired the “Tasūketsu: Judgement Assizes” anime short, funded through a Campfire crowdfunding campaign in 2020. This short was released in January 2021, featuring a different cast from the upcoming television anime adaptation.
