In a recent court filing in Los Angeles, Doherty disclosed her need for spousal support from her estranged husband, Kurt Iswarienko, citing her health issues and diminished earning capacity.
She states that due to her recurrent health problems, which include a resurgence of cancer that has spread to her bones, she has been unable to work since 2022 and anticipates a significant decrease in her residual income, particularly with “Charmed” slated to disappear from streaming platforms by the end of June 2024.
The 53-year-old actress, who first battled breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission in 2017 before its return in 2020, asserts that her current income is largely derived from residuals of past work. This income stream, she claims, will be severely impacted once “Charmed” is no longer available for streaming.
Furthermore, Doherty highlights her escalating medical expenses, amounting to over $21,000 last year, and expresses concern over losing her SAG health insurance due to her inability to work, which would further strain her financial situation.
In the filing, Doherty requests Iswarienko to pay $15,434 per month in spousal support, retroactive from June 1, 2024, along with $9,100 towards her attorney’s fees and costs. She emphasizes that despite her contributions during their marriage to help manage Iswarienko’s photography business, he has allegedly failed to provide financial support or disclose crucial financial details required for their divorce proceedings.
Doherty’s divorce from Iswarienko, whom she married in 2011 and filed for divorce from in April 2023, adds another layer of complexity to her financial predicament. She describes feeling unloved in their relationship and accuses him of spending lavishly while claiming insufficient funds to support her during her health crisis.
