It will also be on various streaming platforms starting April 11 and on YouTube from April 18. In the anime, Hachi, portrayed by Misaki Watada, moves through present-day Shibuya, enjoying a relaxed and cheerful daily life with friends, including Mi-ke (played by Akio Suyama).

Nana (voiced by Kana Ueda), Harry (voiced by Chihiro Uno), Kuro (voiced by Kou Bonkobara), and Moyai (voiced by Kenji Nomura). They’re celebrating what would’ve been Hachiko’s 100th birthday, the famous loyal dog honored with a statue outside Shibuya Station.

About Hachi

Hidesaburo Ueno, a professor at The University of Tokyo, fulfilled his long-time wish of owning a purebred Japanese Akita dog when he adopted Hachiko, a puppy found by one of his students in Odate City.

Despite a challenging journey to Tokyo, Hachiko became inseparable from Professor Ueno, waiting faithfully at Shibuya Station each day for his return from work.

Tragically, Professor Ueno passed away suddenly, leaving Hachiko to continue his daily lookout alone. Despite facing mistreatment from some, Hachiko’s unwavering loyalty captured the attention and admiration of many, especially after his story was featured in the newspaper, earning him a place in the hearts of people around the world.
