‘Star Wars’ Actor Mark Dodson Passes Away At 64

Voice actor Mark Dodson, renowned for his contributions to iconic characters in the “Star Wars” franchise and “Gremlins,” has passed away at the age of 64. According to Dodson’s daughter Ciara, he suffered a “massive heart attack” while sleeping.

She expressed her pride in her father’s accomplishments, stating that he never ceased to make her proud. Dodson had checked into a hotel in Evansville, Indiana, where he was scheduled to appear at Horror Con.

The convention paid tribute to him on Facebook, describing him as not only a talented voice actor but also a beloved member of the horror community.

They extended their condolences to his family, friends, and fans during this challenging time, highlighting his enduring legacy and the joy he brought to the world. 

His talent agency, Stellar Appearances, also honored him on social media, acknowledging his remarkable career spanning over four decades.  Dodson was celebrated for his portrayal of some of Hollywood’s most iconic characters, leaving his mark on movies, video games, commercials, and advertisements.

The tribute emphasized his deep appreciation for his fans and his enjoyment of meeting them at conventions worldwide. Dodson’s career began in 1983 with his role as Salacious Crumb, Jabba the Hutt’s henchman, in “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.”

He further showcased his vocal talents in the 1984 cult classic “Gremlins,” where he provided the voices for both the Mogwais and the mischievous Gremlins.
