Hayao Miyazaki’s film, The Boy and the Heron, has found a new streaming spot. It will soon be on Max. This award-winning movie will join other Studio Ghibli films on Max.
The film hit theaters on December 8, 2023, in the USA, making over $167 million globally. It’s won many awards and was just given the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
This 2023 Oscar is Miyazaki’s second, as Spirited Away also won Best Animated Feature. The Best Animated Feature category in 2023 had tough competition, with movies like Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse and Nimona also up for the award.
But The Boy and the Heron won, marking Miyazaki’s return after 10 years with great appreciation.
The Boy and the Heron is coming to Max for streaming
