The identity of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s final villain is a major unanswered question now that Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori are battling the powerful cursed spirit Ryomen Sukuna in the manga.
Given that Takaba and Yuta seem to have defeated Kenjaku, it appears Sukuna will be the ultimate enemy the heroes must overcome.
However, there could be room for a surprise final villain to emerge at the end.
Sukuna being the final big bad makes a lot of sense considering his long history in the story, all the harm he’s caused, and his bond with protagonist Yuji.
But there’s also a chance the King of Curses may not actually be the true endgame villain, and someone else is waiting to be unveiled in the grand finale.

Why Sukuna Is Not The Real Villain Of The Jujutsu Kaisen
There’s speculation that the final villain of Jujutsu Kaisen could actually emerge from Kenjaku’s merger ritual. It’s been hinted that a very powerful Curse could arise as a direct consequence of Kenjaku’s plans and the mass gathering of Cursed Energy during the Culling Game arc.
This theory raises intriguing possibilities – Kenjaku’s vision could still come to fruition even after his defeat, creating a new foe for even Ryomen Sukuna to contend with.
It would make sense narratively for the sorcerers to be unable to stop Sukuna, forcing him to battle the creature born from the merger in the ultimate clash he desires.
Additionally, this merged being as the final villain would represent the end result of accumulated Cursed Energy, bringing the story full circle.
However, this is largely speculative and there are no solid signs the merger’s outcome will be an antagonist.
So while an intriguing idea, it remains uncertain and should be taken with some skepticism until more evidence emerges.
Nonetheless, it highlights the unpredictability around who or what could emerge as the climactic threat.
Could Kenjaku’s Merger Ritual Create Jujutsu Kaisen’s Final Villain?
Sukuna and Kenjaku have been among the most important figures in Jujutsu Kaisen so far.
It makes a lot of sense for either of them to be the final boss given their prominence in the story and impact on the characters.
While Kenjaku appears to have been defeated by Takaba and Yuta, many fans felt his ending was underwhelming.
So he could potentially return as the final villain by taking over Megumi’s body using the item Sukuna consumed, providing a more climactic conclusion to his arc.
However, considering the author plans to finish the manga this year, Sukuna seems the most likely choice for the ultimate enemy.
As the last major threat left standing, he’s the only one who could truly challenge the sorcerers at this point.
Given the chaos and tragedy he’s caused for Yuji since the beginning, having Sukuna be the final battle would provide closure.
No matter who it ends up being, the final villain will need to push the heroes to their absolute limits, both physically and emotionally.
But Sukuna’s history in the story makes him the most fitting option if Jujutsu Kaisen is truly nearing its endgame.

Yuji Itadori is a high school student in Sendai with extraordinary physical strength. On his deathbed, his grandfather inspires him with two messages: “Always help others” and “Die surrounded by people”.
At school, Yuji’s Occult Club friends accidentally unseal a cursed finger talisman that attracts dangerous spirits. To protect sorcerer Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji swallows the finger, becoming the host of the evil spirit Ryomen Sukuna.
All sorcerers must exorcise Sukuna immediately, meaning killing Yuji too. But Megumi’s teacher Satoru Gojo sees Yuji maintain control and proposes training him at Tokyo Jujutsu High until he consumes all of Sukuna’s 20 fingers and destroys the demon.
Meanwhile, cursed spirits like Mahito plot attacks on Jujutsu sorcerers, aided by corrupt sorcerer Suguru Geto, executed by Gojo a year before.
Gojo partners Yuji with Megumi and fellow student Nobara Kugisaki, training them, but Sukuna takes control during a mission, forcing Yuji to let them die.
However, Sukuna revives Yuji, interest in Megumi. Gojo hides Yuji’s resurrection from higher-ups seeking to kill him. On a mission, Yuji meets student Junpei Yoshino, who falls prey to Mahito, fueling Yuji’s vengeance.
