Summoning Summer’s Anime Delights: June 2024’s Anime Must-Watch Premieres

Approaching the midway mark of 2024, it’s with genuine excitement that we reflect on the exceptional journey this year has been for anime aficionados.

From the gripping tales of ‘Solo Leveling and Re: Monster‘ to the monstrous adventures of ‘Kaiju No.8‘ and the whimsical domains of ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’ season 3, coupled with the intellectual intrigue of ‘Classroom of the Elite‘ season 3, the anime community has been consistently spoiled with top-tier content throughout the past five months.

In May, we got some cool new releases like ‘Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf and Trapezium’, plus the eagerly awaited ‘Demon Slayer‘ season 4 and ‘My Hero Academia‘ season 7. June might not have many familiar shows coming back, but there’s a lot of potential for exciting new series and movies.

Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentōshō

Adapted from Moto’o Nakanishi’s light novel, “Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentōshō” is a popular addition to the forthcoming anime lineup as it is set to be released on 27 June, especially among manga enthusiasts for its feudal Japanese.

The series follows Jinta, tasked with protecting a priestess in a remote mountain village. Despite being an outsider, he must hunt down a forest demon to fulfill his duty. The voice cast of this upcoming adaption includes Taku Yashiro, Saori Hayami, and Reina Ueda

Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture (part 2)

“Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture” gears up for its second chapter release, known as Part 2. This installment is part of a four-segment series, with the first part premiering in May, followed by Part 2 on 7 June. The third segment is slated for July, and the fourth and final part hits screens in August.

The world crafted by Goro Taniguchi and Ichiro Okouchi with the voice cast, Kōhei Amasaki, and Makoto Furukawa “Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture” follows two brothers from Hokkaido during the seventh year of the Kowa era.

Ash, the elder, possesses remarkable athletic ability and Knightmare piloting skills, while Rozé, the younger, excels in intelligence gathering and leadership. Together, they embark on a quest to rescue Empress Sakuya from the Neo Britannian Empire’s grasp.

Look Back

Based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s one-shot manga, “Look Back” is set to premiere on 28 June in Japanese theatres. Kiyotaka Oshiyama, renowned for “Flip Flappers,” directs the movie at Studio Durian, handling scriptwriting and character design as well.

Yumi Kawai and Mizuki Yoshida are the voice cast of the anime movie that follows Fujino, a fourth-grade student creating manga for the school newspaper. When Kyomoto, a student avoiding school, expresses interest in submitting a manga, Fujino faces a new artistic challenge.

Ōmuro-ke: Dear Friends

The Yuruyuri anime series introduces two spin-off films: “Ōmuro-ke: Dear Sisters” and “Ōmuro-ke: Dear Friends,” both slated for 2024 with Emiri Kato, Chiwa Sato, and Rina Hidaka as the voice cast. The former premiered in February, with the latter scheduled for a June release.

The newest spinoff, “Ōmuro-ke: Dear Friends,” revolves around Sakurako and her siblings navigating the joys and challenges of middle school while discovering the essence of love and life.

The movies are a collaboration between Passione and Studio Lings, directed by Naoyuki Tatsuwa, with scriptwriting by Masahiro Yokotani, character design by Kazuyuki Ueda, and music composed by Yūsuke Shirato.

Directed by Kazuya Aiura, known for works like “Assassins Pride” and “Hori-san to Miyamura-kun (OAV),” the anime is produced by Yokohama Animation Lab, with Deko Akao overseeing the scripts.
