After its limited theater release last week, Paramount Pictures is set to release its sports dramedy, Sweet Dreams, on digital platforms tomorrow, April 16.

Starring Johnny Knoxville, the film revolves around an alcoholic father named Morris trying to turn his life around at the Sweet Dreams Recovery Center. In a bid to save their home from auction, Morris leads a ragtag softball team of recovering addicts in a competition.

Sweet Dreams promises a blend of comedy, recovery, and redemption when it hits digital platforms on April 16. Check out the trailer below to get a look into this interesting tale.

Plot of the Movie

Sweet Dreams is a departure from Knoxville’s usual comedic roles, showcasing his versatility. The film emphasizes Morris’s journey to beat addiction, not just for himself but also to be there for his daughter.

Through coaching the softball team, Morris forms bonds with his fellow residents and aims to win an $80,000 prize to secure the recovery home’s future.

Joining Knoxville in the cast is Kate Upton, making her return to the big screen since 2017’s The Layover. The film also boasts a strong comedic lineup including Bobby Lee, Jay Mohr, and GaTa. Lije Sarki, known for producing The Peanut Butter Falcon, takes the director’s chair for the third time with Sweet Dreams.

The film’s theme of recovery resonated deeply with the cast and crew, many of whom have personal experiences with addiction. Knoxville highlighted this connection, stating that their real-life battles with addiction added authenticity to the film’s message.
