Taiwan’s foreign ministry expressed confidence in continued support from the United States, regardless of the outcome of the presidential election.

Amidst the political campaign’s intensification, Taiwan remains vigilant against potential manipulation of Taiwan-China issues.

During the Trump administration, Taiwan received significant backing, including high-level visits and arms sales, a stance that has persisted under President Joe Biden.

Despite the election’s uncertainty, bipartisan support for Taiwan remains strong, as highlighted in a report to lawmakers by Taiwan’s foreign ministry.

The ministry emphasized the importance of maintaining balanced exchanges with both political parties in the United States. However, it also stressed the need to remain cautious of Taiwan-China issues being exploited for political purposes during the election season.

U.S. Congressman Jack Bergman, alongside Democratic Congressmen Donald Norcross and Jimmy Panetta, reaffirmed Congress’ steadfast support for Taiwan during a meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen in Taipei.

They emphasized the strategic significance of the U.S.-Taiwan relationship for regional security, particularly in countering China’s assertive actions.

Bergman highlighted the importance of a robust maritime strategy for Taiwan and discussed collaborative efforts to address China’s aggressive behavior in the region.

While in Taiwan, the delegation planned to engage with U.S. personnel, underscoring the enduring partnership between the two nations.

Despite the absence of formal diplomatic ties, the United States remains Taiwan’s most important arms supplier and staunch international ally. Taiwan’s democratic government remains resolute in rejecting China’s sovereignty claims, asserting that the island’s future should be determined by its people alone.
