“I say, ‘We’re going to play the Bulls for the championship. Michael Jordan just has some more help. I’m just as good as him.’ They look at me like I’m crazy,” Barkley recounted to the NFL legend.

In the “Last Dance” documentary, Jordan admitted to feeling upset when Barkley won the NBA MVP ahead of him.

Coming third behind Barkley and Hakeem Olajuwon, Jordan expressed his determination to secure the championship. The Bulls ultimately triumphed over the Suns 4-2 in the 1993 NBA Finals, securing their third consecutive title.

Despite developing mutual respect and friendship over the years, Barkley and Jordan’s relationship soured after Barkley criticized Jordan’s management of the Charlotte Hornets. Reportedly, this critique led to the demise of their friendship.

However, despite the rift, Barkley acknowledged Jordan’s influence in paving the way for athletes to secure lucrative shoe deals and commercials during an episode of the Club Shay Shay Podcast, a testament to Jordan’s status as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time).
