Although Jackie was brutally surprised in the season 6 opener of The Conners, the Roseanne spinoff turned this plot into a major chance for one underappreciated character. For Roseanne’s sister, Jackie’s takeover of The Lunchbox in The Conners season 2 felt like a big chance.

Jackie finally got the part she wanted after years of struggle with jobs ranging from truck driving to police work to working in the neighbourhood plastics industry. Jackie pushed Darlene to allow her to operate The Lunchbox when her mother Bev refused to give her the restaurant’s deed.

But in a few years, a lot can happen. Although Jackie’s passion for managing the Lunchbox was evident in the season 6 opener, The Conners season 7 may alter this in the future. Jackie didn’t exhibit her typical obnoxious enthusiasm when guest star Nick Offerman’s TV chef showed up to help turn around her failing company.

Jackie didn’t seem to care about making The Lunchbox better, and in the end, she did acknowledge that her connection with Neville brought her greater fulfilment than her work. As Jackie handed the keys to the following generation, this allowed another character to flourish.

Jackie persuaded Harris to take over the restaurant after she made a touching speech acknowledging that she no longer truly wanted to operate it and was just content to be with Neville.

While Offerman’s TV chef was visiting the restaurant, Darlene’s underemployed daughter Harris made several astute suggestions that so impressed him that he finally proposed that she take over the Lunchbox.

Since Jackie never followed through on her revival of The Lunchbox in The Conners, the plot was always doomed to failure. It defied logic that someone as flighty as Jackie could manage to maintain a restaurant running during a pandemic.

Therefore, giving the task to Harris was the appropriate decision for the Roseanne spinoff. Although “The Publisher Cops Show Pilot,” the first episode of season 6, concluded with Harris taking over as The Lunchbox’s manager, it is unclear at this point if Jackie would continue to work part-time to aid in the transition.

But early in the show, Jackie made sporadic visits that Louise and Becky didn’t like, so she could be better off leaving the restaurant in Harris’s hands. Additionally, this would provide Harris the chance to establish herself after the show’s first two seasons squandered this intriguing supporting cast member.

Harris had little to do in seasons 4 and 5, but she now has a purpose in the program thanks to her employment. Although every character in The Conners has a part to play within the family, since season three, Harris’s screen time has mostly consisted of failed romantic relationships.

She never really had any traction or story emphasis from her part-time tattoo business, but she has the drive needed to make The Lunchbox a success. This implies that in the Roseanne spinoff, the protagonist of The Conners will, at last, have a plot that isn’t centred around her romantic life.
