The Golden Bachelorette Contestant Gil Ramirez Faces Stalking Allegations Ahead of Production

Gil Ramirez, a contestant on The Golden Bachelorette, has been embroiled in controversy due to allegations of stalking. Just days before the show’s production began, a 62-year-old woman, who identified herself as his ex-girlfriend, filed a temporary domestic violence restraining order (TRO) against him on June 11.

The accusations detailed a pattern of emotional harassment that she claimed occurred over two weeks, with the last incident reported on May 20.

In her TRO request, the woman outlined a series of unwanted contacts from Ramirez, stating that he continued to reach out despite her clear requests for him to stop. She described multiple instances of him arriving at her home and contacting her friends and family, alleging around 25 attempts through phone calls, texts, and emails. Although she noted that no physical injuries resulted from these encounters, the emotional distress prompted her to seek legal action.

A judge granted the TRO on the same day it was filed, placing restrictions on Ramirez that forbade him from contacting the woman or approaching her within 100 yards of her home, workplace, vehicle, or children’s school. While the order was renewed in July, it was eventually dismissed later that month due to a lack of prosecution, as reflected in court records.

The production team for The Golden Bachelorette was informed of the TRO after their initial background checks were completed. A source from the show clarified that this information came to light during the brief interval between the vetting process and the start of filming. As a result, Ramirez’s screen time was further limited, and his presence in promotional materials was reduced. He had initially made it past the first elimination round during the premiere, which aired on September 18.

This situation follows another incident involving The Bachelorette season 21 winner Devin Strader, who faced his own legal troubles stemming from a 2017 arrest and a restraining order connected to a burglary involving an ex. Strader later claimed the allegations were misunderstood and stated that he reconciled with his ex before their eventual amicable separation. These overlapping controversies highlight ongoing concerns regarding the vetting processes for contestants on reality dating shows.
