Catherine O’Hara joined the already outstanding cast of The Last of Us ahead of its second season. There’s just one character that O’Hara could be playing in season 2 of The Last of Us, even though the Emmy-winning comedian’s role is still unknown.

The first episode of the program, which is based on the critically acclaimed video game of the same name by Naughty Dog, follows seasoned smuggler Joel (Pedro Pascal) as he travels the post-apocalyptic United States with Ellie (Bella Ramsey), an adolescent who is immune to the fatal cordyceps brain infection.

Ellie could be able to assist The Fireflies, a revolutionary force, in creating a treatment to stop the outbreak. This plot to find a cure goes wrong in The Last of Us season 1 finale when Joel discovers the Firefly doctors need to kill Ellie to obtain therapy.

Joel saves an unconscious Ellie and then lies to her about what happened after killing everyone who gets in his way. It’s unclear how The Last of Us will handle the time jump, even since season 2 is set to adapt the second game in the series. HBO has not yet revealed any information regarding the recently added characters to The Last of Us.

There Is Just One Perhaps Catherine O’Hara will be playing

There aren’t many characters from the original Naughty Dog series that Catherine O’Hara could play in the HBO version of The Last of Us since the show’s second season is supposed to follow the story of that game.

Although the first season didn’t hesitate to introduce new characters when necessary—Melanie Lynskey’s The Last of Us role, for example—O’Hara is a natural fit to portray the Seraphite Prophet, a figure from The Last of Us Part 2.

Ellie’s pursuit of vengeance takes her to Seattle in the follow-up, which was once the site of conflicts between the Seraphites, the Washington Liberation Front militia (WLF), and FEDRA. The mysterious Seraphite Prophet, who appears only once in The Last of Us Part 2, is a fascinating character.

The Prophet encouraged people to live an egalitarian life devoid of pleasure and technology after FEDRA declared Seattle to be a Quarantine Zone (QZ). The Prophet proved to be an expert combatant, and she also made it possible for her adherents to establish an independent commune.

Similar to Nick Offerman, who won an Emmy for The Last of Us, O’Hara gets to go against the norm. Furthermore, Catherine O’Hara’s best performances—particularly the humorous ones—show that she is capable of portraying a deranged cult leader.

Finding artwork that portrays the Seraphite Prophet as a rescuer, Ellie finds herself exploring the ruins of Seattle. Popular, and highly frightening, Seraphite mantras are “Feel her love” and “May she guide us.” The Last of Us 2 offers some insight into the beginnings of the Seraphites, despite them being a rather peripheral faction until later in the game.

Through her compelling speeches, the Prophet persuaded her followers that the virus was a punishment for the crimes of humanity. But FEDRA was too busy fighting the Washington Liberation Front to stop the Prophet’s increasing power.
