Ted, the new lead character in the Suits spinoff, is secretly related to Harvey. The courtroom drama produced by Aaron Korsh got a second life when it debuted on Netflix for the first time in the summer of 2023, four years after it concluded its run on USA Network.

Although the program had only mediocre success on cable TV, Suits dominated the streaming market, which naturally raised interest in the series. Before NBCUniversal expressed interest in the concept, Korsh was dubious about the idea of a resurrection or reunion for several reasons.

Rather than bringing Pearson, Hardman, and its main cast members back, Korsh determined that a new series would be the best way to take advantage of Suits’ rising popularity. The project will be led by new characters in a fresh setting.

Suits: LA will center on a Los Angeles-based Hollywood legal practice. The West Coast-set show won’t be the first legal drama spinoff; Pearson will air in 2019. Despite sharing a protagonist with Harvey, Suits: LA will be completely distinct from the original series this time around.

Suits: LA Will Introduce A New Lawyer Named Ted

Although NBCUniversal has officially ordered the pilot into a series, certain important elements about the project have been revealed. Plot specifics are still being kept under wraps.

Outfits: The main character of LA will be Ted, a former federal prosecutor from New York who “reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.” He will be employed by the currently unnamed legal firm by the time that show premieres, and like Mike and Harvey, we can anticipate that he will be productive there.

However, a major storyline point in the spinoff will also revolve around his life story. In Suits, Harvey and Mike’s personal lives play a significant role in their narrative.

Mike’s development in the first several seasons of the parent series was heavily influenced by his toxic friendship with Trevor and his duty to his grandma. Ted’s past was not examined until much later, while Harvey’s history seems to be a key component of Suits: LA’s plot.

Something happened in his previous position in New York for him to flee to the other side of the nation and establish a completely new reputation as an entertainment lawyer. Even though both Suits and its spinoff are set in the same universe, it is assumed that there won’t be any crossover between their stories.

This implies that Hardman will be completely distinct from its TV predecessor, unlike Pearson, which was hosted by Jessica, Pearson’s West Coast equivalent. It’s unclear at this point whether that will truly happen, but based on what has been made public about Suits: LA, Ted and Harvey already have one thing in common: before joining a private company, they both worked for government agencies in New York.

Harvey chose to work for the New York County District Attorney’s Office after graduating from law school rather than immediately going to work for Jessica’s firm, Gordon, Schmidt & Van Dyke at the time.

Under District Attorney Cameron Dennis, Harvey served as an assistant district attorney (ADA), and Jessica thought that the experience would help Harvey become a better attorney.

Harvey’s exit from the DA’s office was regrettably less than ideal; he left after learning that Dennis was falsifying evidence. Ted left his previous job, but it’s unclear if he had a similar experience. It seems like something shady also occurred there.
