Jinbe may have known about Sun God Nika and the impact he had
When Luffy battled Lucci, Chopper and Jinbe were close by. Chopper was surprised by Luffy’s amazing new abilities, but Jinbe immediately connected them to Sun God Nika’s powers.
This scene was only in the anime, not the manga, but it shed light on many things. This scene tied in with Jinbe’s battle with Who’s Who, where they talked about Sun God Nika.
Who’s Who asked Jinbe about Sun God Nika, and instead of denying knowing anything, Jinbe simply said he had nothing to share about Nika. The fact that he didn’t deny knowing about Nika adds to the mystery.
Though the scene was only in the anime, it adds to Jinbe’s mysterious side. It suggests that Jinbe might have known about Nika and his impact long before Wano, and maybe he’s been keeping it a secret from the Straw Hat Pirates.
Jinbe’s link to Sun God Nika
Jinbe’s tie to Sun God Nika has become clearer with the release of One Piece episode 1100. During Jinbe’s fight with Who’s Who, Who’s Who mentioned that Jinbe might know about Sun God Nika because he was the second captain of the Sun Pirates.
Since the Sun Pirates’ crew included former slaves, there’s a possibility they are linked to Nika in some way.
The Sun Pirates’ primary mission was to liberate the world from the rule of the Celestial Dragons, particularly freeing the slaves who served them.
This suggests that the Sun Pirates might have been influenced by the legends of Nika. Bartholomew Kuma’s history highlights that Nika was a well-known figure among the slaves.
Since the Sun Pirates were all once slaves, they could have heard stories about Nika from others in similar situations.
All of this points to Jinbe not only being aware of the connection between Gear 5 and Sun God Nika, but also having a personal link to the legendary figure.
His former pirate crew, the Sun Pirates, seemed to be centered around the stories and legends of Sun God Nika in One Piece.
