Over a year ago, Netflix said The Witcher would return for a fourth season. The twist? Henry Cavill, the Witcher himself, was leaving, making way for Liam Hemsworth. Fans were shocked, much like when Cavill was first cast in 2018.

This week, Netflix shared a video of Hemsworth, Anya Chalotra, and Joey Batey reading for Season 4. Some might find Hemsworth an odd choice for Geralt, but remember, Cavill was a surprise too.

Hemsworth has his challenges. He’s Chris Hemsworth’s younger brother, known for his relationship with Miley Cyrus, and fans often link him to Gale Hawthorne from The Hunger Games. But he has showcased his talent in movies like The Dressmaker and Most Dangerous Game.

Comparing Cavill and Hemsworth, both have played similar roles, making Hemsworth a fitting choice for Geralt. The chemistry between Hemsworth and Chalotra seems promising, even better than what was seen with Cavill.

Fans Have Mixed Feelings About The Witcher

Being Geralt in a live-action series is tough. Fans have spent countless hours playing as Geralt and feel a connection to the character. Any deviation from the original story could upset them.

The Witcher on Netflix has faced criticism from the start, especially when compared to the video games, which are well-loved. Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt has also been under scrutiny, from his accent to his character choices.

Even if Hemsworth faces criticism, Cavill wasn’t spared either. Some fans felt Cavill’s casting was wrong. Yet, both actors bring their charm to the role. Cavill took on Geralt during an uncertain time for his Superman role.

While promoting The Witcher Season 3, news circulated about his possible return as Superman in the DC Universe. Before clarifications, rumors spread about Cavill’s departure. Some believed it was due to disagreements with showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

Misinterpreted interviews fueled the speculation. In reality, Cavill expressed his love for the franchise and hoped for more from the books to be included in the series.

A former writer of The Witcher, Beau DeMayo, stirred controversy with his comments. He mentioned some writers weren’t fans of the original material. This sparked debates on adaptation and staying true to the source. Fans looked for conspiracies behind Cavill’s exit when the simple truth might be his focus on Superman.
