Atlanta Hawks’ star guard Trae Young is on the brink of returning to the court after recovering from surgery to repair a ruptured ligament in his left little finger. NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski shared the news on social media, hinting at Young’s possible return against the Charlotte Hornets.

“Woj” mentioned in his post, “Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard Trae Young is nearing a return and could play as soon as tonight vs. the Charlotte Hornets. Young had been out since surgery to repair a torn ligament in a finger on February 25. The Hawks hold the final Eastern Play-In spot.”

Before his injury sidelined him, Young had been leading the Hawks in scoring with 19.3 points per game and assists with 10.8 per game across 51 starts. Despite missing games due to his injury, Young still ranks eighth in total assists this season among NBA players, highlighting his impact on the court.

The addition of Trae Young will greatly benefit the Hawks

The potential return of Trae Young is expected to give the Hawks a significant boost as they push for the Eastern Conference’s No. 9 seed. Despite his absence, the Hawks managed to maintain their play-in spot with a 12-11 record in the six weeks since Young’s injury.

The absence of Young has noticeably affected the team’s scoring output. With Young on the court this season, the Hawks averaged an impressive 122.1 points per game. However, in his absence, that average dropped to 112.2 points per game.

Following Young’s injury in February, the Hawks showed resilience by winning 12 of their first 20 games without him. However, they are currently on a three-game losing streak, underscoring the importance of Young’s return to the lineup.

Trae Young’s imminent comeback is poised to inject energy and scoring prowess back into the Atlanta Hawks, providing a much-needed lift as they aim to secure a stronger position in the Eastern Conference standings.
