Many heralded the start of WrestleMania 40 last week as the beginning of the Paul “Triple H” Levesque era in wrestling. Once a highly regarded wrestler in his own right, Triple H has demonstrated notable shifts in his position within management.

He recently revealed the rationale for his continuing participation with WWE following the change in ownership.

The world of mixed martial arts and sports entertainment underwent a dramatic transformation in September 2023 when the UFC and WWE united to establish TKO under the Endeavor banner.

The Rise of Triple H

Through this collaboration, a new era in combat sports was inaugurated, as Triple H assumed the role of WWE Chief Content Officer, utilizing his vast experience and expertise. Despite this change, former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon continued to have some sway and would sometimes provide remote direction.

McMahon’s role progressively decreased over time. He ultimately decided to resign as TKO Executive Chairman in January 2024. This decision was taken in the midst of legal issues, including claims made by former WWE employee Janel Grant of serious charges like sexual assault and sex trafficking.

Following McMahon’s exit, Triple H and WWE President Nick Khan took on leadership positions, which marked a significant turning point in TKO’s history. Triple H stated at the WrestleMania 40 press conference that he decided to stay with TKO because he wanted to create a fun work atmosphere for both himself and his coworkers.

“The most important thing for me is that I enjoy what I do. I answered, ‘I simply want to have fun,’ when TKO went down and Ari Emanuel talked to me about this. I stay if it’s enjoyable. If not, we’ll work things out together. We’re enjoying ourselves. I wish enjoyment for all.

I put on the headset as soon as the signature started playing and said, “Everyone, have fun tonight is the most important thing we want to remember.” Have fun with this. If it’s enjoyable, everyone will adore it. You will like watching it if we enjoy making it. That’s my belief, anyway.

When Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns at the end of WrestleMania 40 Night 2, that was the real beginning of the Triple H period.
