Former UFC heavyweight champion and Hall of Famer, Mark Coleman, is in a fight for survival following a courageous act during a tragic house fire in Fremont, Ohio.

“Mark Coleman, 59, was airlifted to a hospital after saving his parents from the blaze but suffered smoke inhalation during the rescue.”

The fire erupted in the early morning hours, rousing Coleman from sleep. Without hesitation, he leaped into action to rescue his parents and their cherished dog, Hammer. Despite his valiant efforts, Coleman was unable to rescue the family pet.

Coleman’s daughter, Morgan Coleman, took to Instagram to update followers on her father’s condition, sharing a touching message alongside a photo of herself, her father, and her sister Mackenzie. She recounted the harrowing events of the fire, highlighting her father’s bravery in rescuing his parents.

While Coleman sustained no visible injuries, the severity of smoke inhalation necessitated immediate medical attention. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Describing her father as her hero and a lifelong warrior, Morgan Coleman appealed for prayers for his recovery during this challenging period. She expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support from friends, family, and the mixed martial arts community.

Coleman, affectionately known as “The Hammer,” made history as the inaugural UFC heavyweight champion and was honored with induction into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2008. His pivotal role in shaping the sport garnered widespread respect and admiration from both peers and fans.
