Trevor Noah was astonished when Jennifer Lopez personally called him for a role in her Prime Video musical film, “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story.” The South African comedian expressed disbelief at the unexpected opportunity.

“That was a random call where your phone rings, and it’s Jennifer Lopez, and you’re like, ‘This must be a prank,'” Noah, 39, tells PEOPLE. “And she wants you to come and do a cameo in her visual experience, and you’re like, ‘Whoa. I mean, I don’t know what I’m doing, but OK, I’ll join in.'”

Earlier this month, 54-year-old Jennifer Lopez unveiled the trailer for “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story,” aligning its release with her upcoming album on Feb. 16. The preview showcases the Hustlers star navigating dreamscapes and real-life challenges in the pursuit of love.

In the film, the “Jenny from the Block” singer, Jennifer Lopez, will share the screen with her husband Ben Affleck, who famously inspired her 2002 album “This Is Me… Then.” The star-studded cast also includes celebrities like Trevor Noah, Fat Joe, Kim Petras, Post Malone, Keke Palmer, Sofia Vergara, Jenifer Lewis, Jay Shetty, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Sadhguru, Derek Hough, and more.

“There’s just a fun collection of people who’ve come together to celebrate an icon and somebody who has, across different genres, really just blazed her own trail,” says Noah. “It was a lot of fun.”

Despite his involvement in the project, the Daily Show alum remains uncertain about what fans can expect from “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story.”

“I’m really excited to see what it is. The funny thing is I don’t know too much about it because they were very secretive about how they did it,” explains Trevor Noah. “I only know about my parts of what it is, but I don’t know about all of it. I too am waiting to see what it’s going to be.”

Ahead of the full film, Jennifer Lopez released a clip serving as the music video for the album’s lead single “Can’t Get Enough.” The video showcases Lopez tying the knot with several different men, with none of the relationships ultimately working out.

Trevor Noah is preparing to host the 2024 Grammy Awards, where his special “I Wish You Would” is nominated for Best Comedy Album. Discussing the upcoming gig, he expressed to PEOPLE that the ceremony is “one of the best concerts in my opinion.”

“I don’t think there are many shows that can rival what the Grammys puts on in terms of a collection of artists,” he said. “Where else are you going to get to watch Dua Lipa, Burna Boy, Billie Eilish, you name it, on the same stage? That’s something I don’t take for granted and really enjoy.”

The 2024 Grammy Awards will air live on CBS this Sunday at 8 PM ET.
